What is it?
Coconut oil is an edible oil extracted from the meat of coconuts. It is high in lauric acid, which has been known to kill harmful bacteria, fungi and viruses in the body.
What are the benefits of coconut oil?
1. Teeth whitening
Yes indeedio. I don’t know if this is true yet, I’m trying it out now, I’ll keep you guys posted! These are the basic guidelines to follow:
Put a tablespoon of coconut oil in your mouth. Swish the oil around for 10-20 minutes (not too hard because your jaw will get fed up after 5 minutes!). Spit out the oil out and brush your teeth as you normally would. Do this every morning before breakfast.
2. Oral hygiene
Oil pulling has been used for thousands of years as an old Indian folk remedy.
The lauric acid in coconut oil attacks harmful bacteria in the mouth that can cause tooth decay and gum disease.
It can also help decrease plaque buildup on your teeth and gums.
Coconut oil is a great skin softener and helps you with dry and hard skin conditions. Simply take some coconut oil on your palms, rub your palms against each other and then on your face, hands, or wherever you want to see the moisturizing effect.
4. Hair repairer
Oil can improve scalp health, therefore improving the conditions for growing thicker, fuller hair, but it does not treat the underlying cause of hair loss.
You can easily replace expensive salon treatments by using this great smelling oil as a hair conditioner at home.
5. Makeup remover
Coconut oil can also be used a makeup remover. I’ve seen lots of women do this on Instagram, they use it for removing the makeup of the face and eyes, without worrying about the harsh chemicals of other removers getting into delicate or sensitive areas.
6. Helps with cellulite
The application of coconut oil is the easiest way to get rid of cellulite. Massage virgin coconut oil every day on the cellulite-affected parts of your body. This oil gets absorbed by your skin easily, and it breaks the fatty deposits in cells.
